Mount Lehman Credit Union members vote Yes to merging with G&F Financial Group*

In January 2021, the Board of Mount Lehman Credit Union made the decision to pursue a partner credit union. In July 2021, we announced that we would be pursuing a merger with G&F Financial Group (Gulf and Fraser Fishermen’s Credit Union)*. A membership vote was held from November 30th - December 21st, 2021 and the majority of voting members voted in favour of merging with G&F Financial Group.

January 1st, 2022 will mark our first day as a combined credit union.

What to expect in January

While January 1, 2022 is the date the merger will come into effect, we will open for business on January 4th.

When you visit the branch in January, you can expect to see the same familiar faces you’ve grown to know and experience the same friendly service you’ve come to appreciate. While at the branch, you’ll be able to request similar rates for loan and deposit products as those offered by G&F. There won’t be any other significant changes in January.

Starting January 31st, you’ll be able to visit your home branch, or choose from any of the 24 G&F branches across the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley to perform most of your day-to-day banking. If you’d like a product or service offered by G&F, we will do our best to accommodate you, just ask!

 Since there’s a lot of work to do in bringing our credit unions together, we ask for your patience and understanding as we work toward integrating our banking system with G&F’s system in the Fall of 2022.

Will there be a change to my accounts or services?

For an interim period following the merger, you will keep your current products, accounts and other financial services.

Over time, Mount Lehman Credit Union products and services will be evaluated and aligned with G&F’s offering so that all members have equal access to the same products and services. In the meantime, you will be given access to some of the G&F products that our organization does not yet have, and the full lineup when our banking system is merged with G&F’s banking system in late 2022.

We will be reaching out to members with more information in the coming weeks to ensure you are informed as we work to bring our credit unions together. Rest assured, you will receive advance notice and support ahead of any change that affects you as a member.

Above all, your experience is our top priority. If you have questions, please read the Frequently Asked Questions section here on our website. As of January 3, 2022, you can also call G&F’s Member Hub support line, Monday to Friday from 7am to 7pm and Saturdays from 8am to 4pm. They’re looking forward to welcoming all of us to the G&F family!
